My name is Erittier Kayenga. I come from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and I started this project at the age of 27. 

I am currently a student, working as a healthcare assistant.

The scientific name of cocoa is Theobroma Cacao.

Arabian coffee (Coffea Arabica) is grown at high altitudes while Robusta coffee (Coffea Robusta) is mainly grown at low altitudes.

We started growing coffee in 1990, and we also grow cocoa. We are improving our activities in order to update our market value and our quality. Our project includes the objective of providing a better life for our workers.

Our goal is to make a change and a difference in agriculture. We also want to help women – Congolese women in particular, since they are often neglected and mistreated by their husbands, due to unemployment. The majority of women in the Congo are unemployed which leaves them unable to care for themselves or to see to their personal needs. Furthermore, employing women will also enable them to send their children to school which in turn will reduce the number of uneducated children in the Congo. Lastly, we will be providing clean drinking water to the area for the benefit of all the members of the community, thus eliminating diseases and saving lives.

Arabica coffee has small leaves and big beans of an oval shape, that are very rich in caffeine, with 2.7 %, whereas Robusta coffee has big leaves and small beans of a circular shape, that are not as rich in caffeine as Arabica coffee, with 1.5 %.
